This movie makes its point in rather a strange way; there is too much explicit pleasure in these horribly mangled and grotesque images; they wear on the viewer, making the flesh creep and the spirit recoil."

The cast make fine debuts, while Hollywood star Tom Hardy is brilliant as a modern revenant, of sorts, suffering from the physical wounds inflicted by an unforgiving animal and experiencing a sort of hallucination-driven psychosis that culminates in a brief dream-like sequence.
Thankfully director Ridley Scott, who is still capable of putting on one of the greatest cinematic displays of dread and fright (if the aforementioned Gladiator is anything to go by), allows all the parts of Revenant to be dark, gruesome and cruel – but also makes it as far away from the jovial western genre as it can possibly be.
Speaking of films and the manner in which they move audiences towards their subject, I am sure all those concerned with the future of film will agree that this will most definitely lead to an age of inevitable remakes, as the earlier return of the coven will most definitely bear and inspire a wave of evil predators, shifters, ghouls, ghosts, and vampires.
